Ducks recall Ryan

Bobby Ryan was the Ducks' first pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft (second overall).

The Anaheim Ducks have recalled right wing Bobby Ryan from the Portland Pirates, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Ryan, 20 (3/17/87), has scored 3-2=5 points in 13 games with the Ducks this season. Selected in the first round (second overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Ryan opened the 2007-08 regular season with Anaheim before being assigned to Portland on Oct. 6. He made his NHL debut on Sept. 29, 2007 against Los Angeles in London, England, scoring his first career goal at the 13:09 mark of the third period.

A native of Cherry Hill, N.J., Ryan recorded 21-28=49 points with a +9 rating and 38 penalty minutes (PIM) in 48 games with the Pirates this season. At the time of his recall, he ranked third on the team in goals, assists and points, tied for fifth in plus/minus and second in power play goals (9). In his past 10 games, Ryan posted 5-8=13 points, including five points on the power play.

In 2006-07, Ryan led Owen Sound of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) in scoring for the second consecutive season. He appeared in 63 games with the Attack, collecting 43-59=102 points while finishing eighth in OHL scoring and fourth in power play goals.
