Ducks swap left wings with Rangers

ANAHEIM – The Anaheim Ducks acquired left wing Tomas Zaborsky from the New York Rangers in exchange for left wing Matt McCue on Monday.
 
Zaborsky, 22, spent the 2009-10 season with Assat Pori of the Finnish Elite League, collecting 26 points (9-17) with 67 penalty minutes (PIM) in 43 games. Zaborsky split the 2008-09 campaign with Hartford of the American Hockey League (AHL) along with Charlotte and Dayton of the ECHL, scoring 31 points (15-16) with a plus-7 rating and 30 PIM in 55 combined games.
 
Originally selected by the Rangers in the fifth round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Zaborsky made his professional debut with Hartford in 2007-08, picking up an assist in two games. The Bystrica, Slovakia native played two seasons with Saginaw of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) from 2006-08, recording 113 points (50-63) with a +34 rating and 60 PIM in 127 games. He also added 6 points (3-3) with six PIM in 10 career OHL Playoff games. In 2007, the 6-foot-1, 194-pound left wing represented his country at the IIHF World Junior Championship in Sweden, picking up 3 points (1-2) and four PIM in six games.
 
McCue, 22, appeared in 10 games with the Manitoba Moose (AHL) this past season, scoring one goal with 24 PIM. He spent the rest of the season in the ECHL with the Bakersfield Condors, collecting two assists with 68 PIM in 19 games. Signed as a free agent on Dec. 30, 2008, McCue played six WHL seasons with Spokane (2003-07), Chilliwack (2006-08), Brandon (2007-09) and Medicine Hat (2008-09). In 247 career WHL games, McCue scored 63 points (15-48) with 625 PIM.
