Reign puts 24 players on protected list

ONTARIO – The Ontario Reign, the affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, announced their protected list for the 2009-10 season.  The Reign have placed 24 players on the team’s protected list.  ECHL teams are allowed to protect as many players as they wish provided they meet the guidelines as defined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association.

Reign protected players are:

  2. Dusty Collins?
  3. Chris Curran?
  4. Curtis Darling
  5. ?Mike Egener
  6. ?Jon Francisco
  7. ?Shawn Germain?
  8. Greg Hogeboom?
  9. Todd Jackson?
  10. Dan Knapp?
  11. Tim Kraus?
  12. Peter Lenes?
  13. Andrew Martens
  14. ?James McEwan?
  15. Sean O'Connor?
  16. Robert Pearce?
  17. Jon Rheault?
  18. Chad Starling?
  19. Jason Tejchma?
  20. Luis Tremblay?
  21. Tony Voce?
  22. David Walker
  23. ?Geoff Walker?
  24. Mike Zacharias

Teams are allowed to protect as many players as they wish provided the players protected meet the guidelines as defined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players' Association which state that teams shall retain the rights to each player that:

  1. Signed an SPC in 2009-10 with the Member, and has not been traded or released, OR
  2. Signed an SPC in 2009-10, and was recalled to the NHL/AHL or IIHF team, and has not been traded or released, OR
  3. Had received a Qualifying Offer last summer for the current season, DID NOT sign an SPC, and has not been traded or released, OR
  4. Has been suspended by the Member or League, and has not been traded or released, OR
  5. Signed an SPC on or after the first day of the 2009-10 regular season, then subsequently an NHL/AHL contract, and has not been traded or released, OR
  6. Has executed the ECHL Retirement Form, and has not been traded or released

Protected lists may exceed 20 players. Teams must complete all Future Consideration trades by 2 p.m. PDT on June 13 and must submit their Season-Ending Roster by noon on June 15. Season-ending rosters may include up to 20 players and cannot include any players who did not sign an ECHL contract in 2009-10.
Qualifying Offers will be announced on July 1, 2010.?
